ASSOCIATE MINISTER:

PETER HUGHES

Peter served as a stipendiary ordained minister in the Diocese of Sheffield for 31 years. He cared for suburban and rural parishes and served as Area Dean of Rotherham. On retiring in 2013 Peter brought his wife, Suzanne, back to her hometown of Hessle, much to the delight of his mother-in-law. In his previous life Peter worked in retailing and as a tertiary college lecturer. He plays Walking Football with Hessle Sporting Club and follows the fortunes of Swansea City FC, his hometown team. He plays the guitar, frequently walks to Hessle Country Park, cycles, makes curries and helps keep St Peter's Church lawn neatly mowed. Peter loves living in the East Riding.

SHANNON GRATER

Shannon has served as Warden of St Mark's since 2025 and as Treasurer since 2021. Originally from South Africa, she moved to the UK in 2019 with her husband, Adam. They have two teenage boys and an English Bulldog who keeps the family entertained. Outside of church life, Shannon enjoys keeping fit, whether that’s going for long walks, heading to the gym, or catching up with friends over a good cup of coffee.

Jo Hepworth

Jo is our Church Administrator and runs the Church Office. She is also our Parish Safeguarding Representative. Originally from Essex, Jo moved to the East Riding in 2009. When she isn't working, Jo enjoys music – particularly singing and playing various musical instruments – reading, and trips to the theatre. Jo is married to David and has one daughter.

Catherine Long

Catherine has been a member of our church family since 2013 and began serving our young people in the community shortly after. She brings a wealth of experience to her work, having spent 8.5 yrs in a local school working with children from Nursery through KS3, alongside her part-time role as a bookkeeper for St. Peter’s until 2025. Before becoming a mum, she lived a vibrant life in Singapore, immersing herself in its rich culture, diverse cuisine and dynamic people. She remains deeply connected to her roots in the Philippines, where she grew up, and returns often to visit family and friends. Outside of church life, Catherine enjoys local history, good food, and working on her tennis game. She loves long walks with her husband, Daniel, and is a proud mum and stepmum to their teenage children.
